Resumen

En este trabajo se reconocen los valores patrimoniales de los edificios hospitalarios del siglo XX, tomando como objeto de estudio el Hospital Neuropsiquiátrico Julio Manrique, el cual fue un centro asistencial con un gran interés en la salud mental, y que actualmente es un tema de preocupación a nivel mundial. A raíz de su ejercicio médico e investigativo, el hospital se convirtió en un bien de interés cultural de ámbito municipal. Al mismo tiempo, es el reflejo de la falta de apropiación del patrimonio en el país, debido a que se encuentra en estado de abandono desde hace más de 18 años. Por esta razón, se pretende readecuar funcionalmente el inmueble para que provea espacios para el tratamiento y cuidado de la salud mental, además de generar una propuesta arquitectónica contemporánea que respete las características patrimoniales de su contexto. La intervención arquitectónica tendrá como objetivo impulsar la investigación de los tratamientos mentales y la recuperación de los pacientes a través de la implementación de terapias complementarias.

This work recognizes the architectural values of twentieth-century hospital buildings, taking as an object of study the Julio Manrique Neuropsychiatric Hospital, which was a healthcare center with a great interest in mental health and is currently a matter of concern worldwide. As a result of its medical and research practice, the hospital became an asset of municipal cultural interest. This reflects the lack of appropriation of heritage in the country, as it has been in a state of abandonment for more than 18 years. For this reason, it is intended to functionally readapt the property to provide spaces for the treatment and care of mental health, in addition to generating a contemporary architectural proposal that respects the patrimonial characteristics of its context. The architectural intervention will aim to promote research into mental treatments and the recovery of patients through the implementation of complementary therapies.
