Title

The effect of bovine manure on the nutritional composition of fodder beet roots (Beta vulgaris) in the municipality of Pasto, Department of Nariño

Abstract

The nutritional composition of fodder beet roots (Beta vulgaris L.) was evaluated in Andepts soils, with application of three doses of bovine manure (0, 10, and 20 kg/Trat.). The research was conducted in the Botana Experimental Farm, located in the Botana rural district, municipality of Pasto, department of Nariño, located east of Greenwich at 77° 18’ 58’’ west longitude, and 1° 10’ 11.4’’ north latitude, at an altitude of 2820 meters, with an average temperature of 12°C, annual average rainfall of 800-1000 mm, relative humidity of 70-80%, and with 900 hours of average sunshine per year. A complete random block design was used, with three treatments and three repetitions. The bromatological and agronomic variables were processed through the Infostat statistical program for analysis of variance and tests of significance. Statistical differences were obtained in favor of the bromatological variable in the ethereal extract nutrient, averaging 0.70% in T2, and 0.56% in T1. Similarly, partial cost analysis was performed, finding that T2 has the highest performance in kg/plot.
