The current water crisis is related to the scarcity of this resource, either due to its exploitation or due to global warming. Taking in count that Colombia is a country with an important water supply and that the different activities that contribute to development generate the reduction of this resource, different alternatives are created that contribute to the use of water through its cycles, one of the cases is rainwater that has a not so high level of impurity and is suitable for consumption, which is why the Bauhaus de la Montaña school is interested in taking advantage of this resource through rain. The Bauhaus de la Montaña school is an institution of empirical education, its ideals are based on pro nature, therefore, they want to implement this project for their property. As a methodology, a catchment system and a treatment system are proposed. For the catchment system, four infrastructures are taken and the area of four roofs is calculated, taking into account the precipitation history, the IDF curves are obtained to proceed to calculate the maximum flow according to the return time and the duration time for each rain. After calculating the maximum flow, the Hydraulic Toolbox program is used to define if the dimensions of the gutter are adequate; In the treatment system, bibliographic references are taken into account to define the treatment units, which were: interceptor that will retain the first rainwater, filtration, which will retain the smallest particles and disinfection, this will eliminate the pathogens present in the water. In the results it is achieved that the dimensions of the gutters are adequate for the flow that is handled and in the treatment units the volume of the interceptor is obtained for each infrastructure, which is 1 liter for each meter, this quantity is the one that it is needed to wash the ceiling. In filtration sand and activated carbon will be used, reducing the solid load and some pathogens. In the disinfection area, a water dispenser will be handled that contains four chlorine tablets within systems, this process ensures that it has the same efficiency as chlorine gas. 4 In conclusion, a system designed for the collection and treatment of rainwater is obtained, designed economically and as naturally as possible, complying with Colombian regulations and as recommendations it is proposed to constantly monitor the system, in addition to maintaining and evaluating the operation of the system that is carried out by companies or contractors endorsed for the process.
