The scope of this project is to evaluate the course of the different components of the water footprint in African oil palm cultivation (Elaeis guineensis) company located in the Municipality of Guaicaramo S.A.S Barranca De Upia, Meta. To account for the direct and indirect water consumed by the crop express components as follows: Green water: Volume of rain water evaporated or incorporated into the product, Blue Water: Volume of surface water or groundwater evaporated or incorporated into the product and gray water : Water used to dilute pollutant loads, thus providing information for future decision-making towards sustainability of water resources and process optimization by oil palm companies as part of its policy of environmental responsibility. Given that the cultivation of oil palm in Colombia represents 9% of the total green water footprint in Colombia as we can see in Figure 19, which corresponds to 3,082 Mm³ / year respectively, relating the latter value Water Footprint with that obtained by the methodology used and applied to a significant sample of the culture developed in this thesis the following value is resulted; 0.007247 mcm / year given to it being an agricultural activity with 3,457 hectares in initiation and development, with 3,274 hectares in middle and end, making a significant contribution of 0.02% to the percentage of the total water footprint green in Colombia by the cultivation of African palm (see figure 20). The contribution made to the green water footprint by the crop is one of the greatest respect to the supply of rainwater is of great importance due to the weather of the place, the rainfall behavior bimodal presented in the area plus the Franco features - silty soil tend for good breeding ground infiltration by rainwater. On the other hand the water footprint Blue refers to the volume of irrigation water is from groundwater or surface source, in this case our water source is the Upia River, which is driven by a series of canals to nurseries where it is suministrad plants for irrigation and that evaporates from a crop field during the growth period, where you can show that in the cultivation of African palm is estimated at 7% of other productive products, with 2,804 Mm³ / year, also the water footprint generated by palm oil compared to other crops is 12% which corresponds to 3,364.8 mcm / year, referring the contribution of 0.003106 million m³ / year, corresponding to 0.01% contribution our African oil palm cultivation in the blue water footprint (see figure 21). The gray water footprint is defined as the amount of water needed to assimilate into the body of contaminating water concerned, in this case for Guaicaramo SAS estimating the gray water footprint is 1803.47 L / Ton amount of water needed for the removal of Sulfates and nitrates used in the cultivation of African palm in Guaicaramo SAS nutrients in accordance with (Arevalo Diego, 2012), where it is evident that the percentage of gray Water Footprint of African palm oil is very low, see Figure 22. Significantly, the characteristics of the surrounding soil cultivation are loam - silty which is composed by a horizon of humus rich enough in nutrients it does not need too large an amount of agrochemicals. The total water footprint of growing African oil palm is 0.010 million m³ / year, as compared with 8% of the agricultural sector (see Figure 23) it belongs to 3131.52 Mm³ / year bringing the cultivation African palm in Guaicaramo SAS It represents only 0.02% of the total water footprint in Colombia.
