The construction of reservoirs is important in hydropower generation projects, flood control, water supply, irrigation districts, and cooling of thermal power plants. However, it is necessary to mention that the formation of reservoirs generates anthropic modifications to the landscape as well as Also irreversible environmental and socioeconomic impacts, it is for this reason that it is necessary to study the impacts adequately, with the aim of generating measures to mitigate the problems caused to the construction of these. In Colombia, 38 reservoirs with more than 1 million cubic meters have been built, with a total area of about 11,000 ha, of which 47% are located on temperate thermal floors, 16% are in warm lands and the rest in Cold climates, most for power generation. By 2014 hydroelectricity represented 63.9% of the installed capacity (UPME, 2015) and additional reservoirs are projected. Being of great importance to know the ecological functioning and the environmental impact of the reservoirs in order to mitigate its effects and enhance the benefits, this research project aims to identify and quantify at the regional level, the alteration of the mesoclima having as base indicator the alteration of the Precipitation regime following the construction of the Miel I and Porce II reservoirs, located in the department of Caldas and in the department of Antioquia respectively. The results of this research show an increase in annual precipitation in the region closest to the reservoirs, where rainfall events became more frequent, reaching for the Miel I reservoir a maximum value of 24% increase in precipitation in the area Near the dam site and for the Porce II reservoir an increase of precipitation of 1% coinciding also with the area closest to the dam site
