The impact of climate change that has been facing the world has led to an increasing awareness of the need to protect natural resources, especially water, to ensure the survival of present and future generations. Colombia has not declared itself in this situation, in recent years there have been periods of high temperatures, as well as extreme rainfall, which led to emergencies generated by drought, floods or landslides, impacting the environment. However, industrialization has carried out an excessive consumption of natural resources in a permanent race to urbanize to meet population growth, impacting the sustainability of ecosystems that offer the preservation of life. Water was positioned as one of the main natural resources essential for life. Deforestation and pollution are consolidated as the main enemies of the liquid, which demonstrates the need for an adequate protection strategy for the protection of forests and water sources, as well as the procedures that guarantee the adequate use of this resource. In this sense, the use of gray water emerges as a viable alternative at the industrial level, to reduce the impact of polluted water on the environment, generating at the same time the positive impacts in the economic area and in terms of efficiency. Although this is not a new issue worldwide, specifically in Colombia in terms of housing, despite the varied literature existing at the time, the massive implementation of this type of strategies is not recorded, even evidencing knowledge about the way in which You can adopt in a practical way. Based on the above, through this thesis seeks to build a practical guide to facilitate builders, engineers and in general to the construction sector, the implementation of a gray water use system in new buildings for residential use located in the country. From a case analysis located in a multifamily housing project in the city of Bogotá, a hydro-sanitary design was carried out with two alternatives, the first consisting of the elaboration of the traditional hydro-sanitary system and the second in the elaboration of a hydro-sanitary system with the implementation of the gray water use system. Based on the executed designs, the information on the benefits, advantages and disadvantages of the gray water design in the houses was identified taking into account the environmental, economic, technical and legal factors, henceforth the parameters in incorporating the guide practice available real and understandable information, in a didactic and simple way.
