This investigation evaluates software designed for calculation of underground distribution cable networks. The principal feature of this software is to perform the ampacity and temperature rise calculations for power underground distribution cables. The program delivers results of real-time ampacity estimation according to the thermal conditions where this it is going to be installed. In order to obtain this, it was an analyzed using the method of operating daily cycle of load, or the current duty cycle, this method consist in use of cable in normal operation or in contingency condition, with the purpose to have a greater operation of the of electrical distribution networks, so it means in efficiency increased. For the development of this software analysis was used the thermal model of power cables, which considers the installation characteristics and the typical cycles of load in circuits of average tension. To realize the evaluation of this software, the values to consider are the demand according to the type of client were contemplated, Using the characteristic load curves for each type of user, these curves were provided by the distributing company CODENSA. The result of this investigation is to make the selection of the conductor that represents fewer amounts of technical losses to the system, which provides the best conductivity and also optimizes the amount of load that the conductor can hold, that offers the best results from the technical and economic point of view. Main purpose is allow the system to increase its levels of chargeability and therefore their factor of use, in fact to reduce the over sizing in rating cables, allowing to postpone investments and to obtain greater operability of the system before contingency events appears. From the analyses that we made has been obtained a computational tool named SPACS (System For the Analysis of Underground Conductors), which calculates the level of load of cables according real-time thermal conditions where this it is going to be installed and the conditions of daily cycle of load and installation, sensitizing its operation obtaining new and better criteria of operation for the companies of energy distribution
