In this document are an investigative process regarding the incidence of harmonic distortions for a fault location method. In the first chapter the introduction, justification and generalities about why it was decided to carry out this investigation are shown. Also, at the end of this chapter is the problematizing question which helps to locate the reader and gives the document a focus. In chapter 2 you will find the generalities on the topic of fault location in different scenarios and voltage levels, this chapter contextualizes the reader with the topic, also gives it the relevance it deserves due to the fact that the fault location methods developed up to the moment has been a fundamental contribution to strengthen the reliability and security of electrical systems. Chapters 3 and 4 contain information about the investigative process which consists of three phases: investigation, simulation and data acquisition, comparation and conclusions. tables with the results of the simulation for different scenarios are shown in chapter 4, highlighting the incidences of harmonics in critical scenarios. Later, the analysis of results and their comparison in each of the scenarios are presented
