Establishment of a system of production of 2,500 m2 of green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) for the socio-economic improvement of the municipality of Algeciras-Huila

Resumen

Debido al aumento del área sembrada de café (Coffea arabica) y a la reducción de cultivos de frutales y transitorios en el municipio de Algeciras, se realizó el siguiente proyecto productivo, el cual tuvo cuatro componentes. En el componente agronómico, se realizó la implementación de un cultivo de habichuela (Phaseolus vulgaris) variedad Blue Lake como método demostrativo de la producción tecnificada, reduciendo los costos de producción mediante un manejo integrado de plagas, enfermedades y arvenses, buscando la disminución de las aplicaciones de agroquímicos. Entretanto el componente investigativo constó de un ensayo en el cual se hizo uso de desechos orgánicos de ganadería y del cultivo de café (cacota), en combinación con promotores de crecimiento, evaluando parámetros de producción. Se evidenció una reducción de la fertilización química y un incremento en la producción de vainas por planta. En el componente social, se impartieron charlas técnicas a los agricultores de ASOBANAL H y a estudiantes de grado noveno y décimo del colegio Juan XXIII. En estas charlas se trataron temas como producción de diferentes cultivos, cuidados del medioambiente y la importancia de la agricultura para las sociedades. Las charlas fueron ofrecidas a 143 estudiantes y a 4 agricultores. Por último, en el componente de empresarización se logró la comercializando de la producción total. Sin embargo, esta se tuvo que vender a intermediarios del municipio de Algeciras, pues el traslado a la Ciudad de Neiva implicaba mayores costos debido al pago de trasporte para su movilización. La producción total fue de 2 toneladas de habichuela, superando el rendimiento municipal.

Because increase in the area sown with coffee (Coffea arabica) and the reduction of fruit and transient crops in the municipality of Algeciras, the following productive project was carried out, which had four components. In the agronomic component, was carried out the implementation of green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) crop, variety Blue Lake as a demonstrative method of technical production, reducing production costs through an integrated management of pests, diseases and weeds, seeking the reduction of applications of agrochemicals. Meanwhile, the research component consisted of an essay in which organic wastes from livestock and coffee crops (cacota) were used, in combination with growth promoters, evaluating several production parameters. There was evidence of reduction in chemical fertilization and an increase in the production of pods per plant. In the social component, technical talks were given to the farmers of ASOBANAL H and ninth and tenth grade students of the Juan XXIII school. These talks dealt with issues such as the production of different crops, care for the environment and the importance of agriculture for society. The talks were offered to 143 students and 4 farmers. Finally, in the component of entrepreneurship, the commercialization of total production was achieved. However, this had to be sold to intermediaries in the municipality of Algeciras, since the transportation to the City of Neiva implied higher costs due to the payment of transportation for its mobilization. The total production was 2 tons, surpassing the municipal yield.
