Implementation of 2000 m2 of bean variety Nima calima in the sociocultural context of the municipality of Bolivar department of Cauca

Resumen

En el contexto sociocultural del municipio de Bolívar, departamento del Cauca, se ejecutaron los componentes; agronómico, investigativo, empresarial y social que conforman este trabajo. El componente agronómico, se realizó en la vereda el Guavito, corregimiento de San Miguel, donde se establecieron 2.000 m2 de fríjol Nima-calima (Phaseolus vulgaris) y se ejecutaron diferentes labores de cultivo incluyendo, la cosecha y postcosecha del grano. El componente investigativo se desarrolló en las veredas Pepinal Alto y el Guavito, donde se hizo un diagnóstico sobre uso y manejo de plaguicidas, se encuestó a 30 personas que manifestaron problemáticas como el escaso conocimiento técnico, la falta de elementos de protección personal, el uso de dosis inadecuadas, escasa capacitación, entre otras que, de seguir ocurriendo ponen en riesgo el ambiente y la salud de los trabajadores, sus familias y demás personas que tengan contacto con dichos productos. En el componente empresarial, se comercializaron 152 kg de fríjol seco, se obtuvo una Tasa Interna de Retorno de -18 % y un Valor Actual Neto de -$607.643. La venta se hizo a un intermediario quien compró la totalidad del producto facilitando la labor de comercialización, sin embargo, no se obtuvo rentabilidad por factores como el exceso de lluvia, el ataque de plagas y enfermedades, entre otros. El componente social, se efectuó en cuatro veredas del municipio de Bolívar donde, además, de instruir a dos caficultores en el muestreo de suelos, se realizó charlas técnicas sobre el uso y manejo de plaguicidas y los cultivos de café, plátano y maíz.

In the sociocultural context of the municipality of Bolívar, department of Cauca, the agronomic, research, business and social components of this work were carried out. The agronomic component was carried out in the village of the Guavito, San Miguel, where 2,000 m2 of Nima-calima beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) were planted and different cultivation tasks were carried out, including harvesting and post-harvesting of the grain. The research component was carried out in the Pepinal Alto and the Guavito villages, where a diagnosis was made on the use and handling of pesticides; 30 people were surveyed and reported problems such as poor technical knowledge, lack of personal protective equipment, use of inadequate doses, poor training, among others, which, if they continue to occur, put the environment and the health of workers, their families and other people who come into contact with these products at risk. In the business component, 152 kg of dry beans were sold, with an Internal Rate of Return of -18% and a Net Present Value of -$607,643. The sale was made to an intermediary who bought the entire product, facilitating the marketing process; however, profitability was not achieved due to factors such as excessive rainfall, pests, and diseases, among others. The social component was carried out in four villages in the municipality of Bolívar where, in addition to instructing two coffee growers in soil sampling, technical talks were given on the use and management of pesticides and the cultivation of coffee, plantain and corn.
