Aunque el sector de las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TIC) en Colombia tiene una discreta participación en el comercio internacional e importancia en las exportaciones totales del país, tiene una prometedora expectativa de crecimiento dentro de los próximos años. Esto se debe a que, según las tendencias exportadoras, Colombia logrará hacer una transición en su oferta exportable, reemplazando los productos primarios, por productos con valor agregado como los del sector TIC, que cuentan con procesos de programación, fabricación, etc., generando una diferenciación y mayores valores comerciales. En este contexto, el objetivo general de esta investigación es determinar los principales retos del sector TIC para potencializar la exportación de sus bienes. Para ello, se adoptará una metodología cuantitativa, soportada en teorías como la del comercio intraindustrial, el modelo de Heckscher-Ohlin, entre otras; que permitirán calcular el índice de Balassa e IVCR para identificar las ventajas que tiene el país dentro del sector actualmente.
Although the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) sector in Colombia has a discreet participation in international trade and importance in the country's total exports, it has a promising growth expectation in the coming years. This is because, according to export trends, Colombia will be able to make a transition in its exportable offer, replacing primary products with value-added products such as those from the ICT sector, which have programming, manufacturing, etc. processes, generating differentiation and greater commercial values. In this context, the general objective of this research is to determine the main challenges of the ICT sector to enhance the export of its goods. To do this, a quantitative methodology will be adopted, supported by theories such as intra-industrial trade, the Heckscher-Ohlin model, among others; that will allow the calculation of the Balassa and IVCR index to identify the advantages that the country currently has within the sector.
