El presente trabajo de investigación evaluó la suplementación con papa (Solanum tuberosum) y sus efectos en la cantidad, calidad y costos de producción en Vacas Holstein del municipio de Chocontá, Cundinamarca, El estudio evaluó las variables cantidad de litros producidos, la calidad (%grasa, % proteína y solidos totales en la leche) durante el primer tercio de lactancia. A un grupo de vacas que parieron en la misma época se asignaron dos grupos, Control n=4 y el grupo experimental n=5, suplementadas con papa. Según el estudio realizado los resultados mostraron que la suplementación con papa no tuvo efectos significativos en la cantidad, cálida. Según los costos de producción de la leche se obtiene un resultado positivo, en fincas ganaderas de la zona, lo cual representa una alternativa importante a ser considerada por los ganaderos.
The present study evaluated the supplementation with potato (Solanum tuberosum) and its effects on the quantity, quality and production costs in Holstein cows of the municipality of Chocontá, Cundinamarca. The study evaluated the variables quantity in number of liters produced, during the sampling phase that was performed 8 days after the start of the supplementation process and 20 days after the feeding process with supplements, in terms of quality, it was analyzed under the results of sampling (% fat,% protein and solids total milk) during the first third of lactation. Control n = 4, which is composed of 4 cows of second and third calves fed on the way the cattle are handled in the farm Esperanza and the experimental group formed by 5 cows in the same third of lactation, but supplemented with potato. The results showed that the supplementation with potato has effects on the quantity, quality and costs of milk production, on cattle farms in the area, which represents an important alternative to be considered by breeders.
