| dc.description | <em><strong>Objective:</strong></em> To determine the changes in the refractive state in three to four month old premature babies, corrected within a period of six months, who participated in the program from the Madre Canguro Foundation at the San Ignacio University Hospital in Bogota. Materials and <em><strong>Methods:</strong></em> Descriptive observational study in which the change of the refractive state under mydriacylen was evaluated in 96 patients (192 eyes) during a period of six months, and its association to other factors such as weight, age and gender, analyzing quantitative variables, describing average and standard deviation, median deviation with interquartile range and maximum and minimum values for each case and their correlation, as well as qualitative variables with absolute and relative frequencies. <em><strong>Results:</strong></em> The most frequent refractive errors are found in the category of +3.00 to +3.75 spheres and of cylinders of –1.00 to –1.75 to zero degrees. There is no relation between weight and corrected age, as well as between change of weight and the refractive change expressed as spherical equivalent. <em><strong>Conclusion:</strong></em> These results show that the change in the refractive state, especially in the sphere, was of 1.00 Dpt, while the cylinder remained stable. On the other hand, the most frequent defect was hypermetropic astigmatism, which coincides with the process of emmetropization. | en |
| dc.description | <em><strong>Objetivo:</strong></em> determinar los cambios del estado refractivo en niños prematuros de tres y cuatro meses de edad, corregida en un intervalo de seis meses, que asistieron al programa de la Fundación Madre Canguro del Hospital Universitario San Ignacio en Bogotá. <em><strong>Materiales y métodos:</strong></em> estudio observacional descriptivo en el que se evaluó el cambio en el estado refractivo bajo mydriacyl en 96 pacientes (192 ojos) en un intervalo de seis meses, y su asociación con otras entidades como el peso, la edad y el sexo, analizando variables cuantitativas, describiendo promedio y desviación estándar, mediana con rango intercuartílico y valores máximos y mínimos para cada caso y su correlación, y variables cualitativas con frecuencias absolutas y relativas. <em><strong>Resultados:</strong></em> los defectos refractivos más frecuentes están en la categoría de esferas de +3,00 a +3,75 y cilindros de –1,00 a –1,75 a cero grados. No existe relación entre el peso y la edad corregida, al igual que entre el cambio de peso y el cambio refractivo expresado como equivalente esférico. <em><strong>Conclusión:</strong></em> estos resultados evidencian que el cambio en el estado refractivo, especialmente en la esfera, fue de 1,00 Dpt, mientras que el cilindro se mantuvo estable. Por otro lado, el defecto más frecuente fue el astigmatismo hipermetrópico, lo que coincide con el proceso de emetropización. | es |
