Tobacco is a plant that stimulates the central nervous system. For its consumption, its leaves must be grown, which are dried and fermented, then used in various products that can be smoked, chewed or snorted. One of its main components is nicotine which can lead to addiction, which explains why many people who use it find it difficult to quit. In recent years, studies have been carried out on cigarette consumption and its alterations in the eye such as AMD, cataract, uveitis among others, however, it is necessary to investigate a little more about the state of the ocular surface, symptoms and changes generated by tobacco consumption. Objective: To evaluate the state of the ocular surface in active smokers and non-smokers at Universidad de la Salle. Methodology Observational-crosssectional and correlational study. A sample of 20 smoking and 20 non-smoking students, aged between 18 and 28 years, was evaluated. Clinical tests of the ocular surface were performed using the keratograph, impression cytology, and the OSDI questionnaire was applied.
