Resumen
Este trabajo analiza la obra de teatro Arran del Mar Caribe (1944) de Ramón Vinyes, más conocido como “el sabio catalán” de García Márquez en Cien años de soledad. Ambientada en La Guajira y protagonizada por un colectivo de catalanes emigrados, Arran del Mar Caribe nos muestra el choque cultural y el extrañamiento del exiliado que contrapone su apego nacional a la ambigua vivencia del mestizaje en tierra caribe. El reflejo del contexto geográfico, literario e histórico tanto colombiano como internacional (con la Segunda Guerra Mundial en el trasfondo y la presencia nazi en la costa atlántica) permite a los autores del artículo ahondar en las múltiples imbricaciones de este singular drama cuyos elementos trágicos y ambiente premacondiano subrayan el gran alcance de Vinyes en sus relaciones con la literatura y la cultura colombianas.
Abstract
This article analyzes the play Arran del Mar Caribe (1944), of Ramón de Vinyes, well-known for being the “Catalan wise” of One Hundred Years of Solitude, of Gabriel García Márquez. Set in La Guajira and with migrated Catalans as the principal characters of the drama, it shows us the cultural confrontation and the strangeness of the exiled, who opposes his national affection to the ambiguous experience of the mixed races in the Caribbean. The geographic, literary and historic contexts, both the Colombian and international –including the Second World War, and the nazi presence in the Atlantic coast– allow to the authors to go into the multiple imbrications of the drama in depth, whose tragic elements and “pre-Macondian” context stress the Vinyes’ grasp about Colombian literature and culture.
