Descripción
Talking about wage inequality in Colombia includes several scenarios, including the inequality in the annual wage increase vs. the annual increase in the cost of living. Currently in Colombia the percentage increase to the SMMLV is determined by a consensus between unions and employers that establishes the percentage in which the minimum wage will be increased for the following year, this only applies to those workers who earn such minimum wage, but currently There is no law that establishes a percentage or, in any case, a value to increase the salary of those workers who earn more than what is established as a minimum wage. In the absence of a legal framework, companies are not obliged to increase wages by making a worker earn the same for several years without having any variation. The problem is that wages do not always increase with the increase in the cost of living, each year inflation continues to rise, which translates into a loss of purchasing power and an increase in the concentration and distribution wealth gap, thus contradicting what is stipulated in Colombia's political constitution, making the rich richer and the poor poorer
