La presente investigación determina el comportamiento desde el nivel internacional hasta el nacional de la cadena cárnica bovina, y un análisis del eslabón de la producción de carne bovina en el departamento del magdalena, logrando determinar que a nivel internacional se destacan países como Uruguay, Estados Unidos y Brasil en producción, consumo o exportaciones; de igual forma a nivel nacional se reconoce que se tienen un consumo per cápita para el 2014 es de 19,3 kg (Contexto Ganadero, 2015), y que en el departamento del magdalena los productores se pueden caracterizar dentro del rango de fincas de menos de 150 ha con 100 a 200 animales y de razas entre brahmán y siete colores. Junto a esto se pudo caracterizar que los productores comercializan animales en pie entre 400 y 450 kg en frigoríficos y sus insumos los obtienen de almacenes conocidos como Agropaisa, Mi corral y en veterinarias de la zona; acompañado a esto se reconoció un manejo en la producción de pastos Tanzania, guinea y angleton con recursos hídricos presentes en las fincas como jagüeyes y ríos; y por último se reconoció un registro de animales por libro de registros y software ganadero y respecto a certificados sanitarios solo un 51% de los encuestados indican tener certificados en buenas prácticas ganaderas y vacunación emitidos por el ICA
