Esta investigación hace parte del macroproyecto “Maestros colombianos ilustres del siglo XX” propuesto por la Universidad de La Salle, inscrito en la línea investigativa “Saber educativo, pedagógico y didáctico”, el cual pretende develar las contribuciones hechas por maestros colombianos a la educación con el fin de darles el lugar de importancia que merecen. El propósito del presente trabajo investigativo fue reconstruir los aportes hechos a la educación colombiana por el maestro Estanislao Zuleta Velásquez; para ello se hizo uso del método biográfico narrativo que permitió hacer una aproximación, en primer lugar, a su vida como autodidacta, intelectual, pensador y maestro preocupado por la educación colombiana. En segundo lugar, se estableció una conexión entre su historia de vida, su producción intelectual y su ideario en lo que respecta a una educación enfocada en la formación de seres críticos y transformadores de la sociedad. Son de resaltar sus aportes en el ámbito de la lectura, relacionados con la configuración de lectores auténticos capaces de reflexionar e interpretar su entorno; en la concepción del maestro como un intelectual comprometido a nivel social y político y, por último, en una forma particular de transmitir el conocimiento que logra trascender los límites físicos de la escuela
This research belongs to the macro project “Maestros colombianos ilustres del siglo XX” (Colombian distinguished teachers from the 20th century) registered under the line of work “Educational, Pedagogical and Didactic Knowledge” which intends to reveal contributions to education made by distinguished teachers with the purpose of giving them the importance they deserve. The aim of this research work was to rebuild the contributions to Colombian education from Estanislao Zuleta Velásquez; therefore, the biographical narrative method was used allowing us to make an approximation, in the first place, to his life in terms of self - taught, intellectual, thinker and teacher worried about Colombian education. On the other hand, it was made a linkage between his life-history, intellectual production and thinking in regards to an education engrossed in the founding of critical and social transforming beings. It is relevant to highlight Estanislao Zuleta’s contributions in regards to the reading field concerning the configuration of authentic readers able to reflex and interpret his/her environment; furthermore, his interpretation of the teacher as an intellectual with social and political commitment and a particular way to transmit knowledge, being the teacher able to go beyond the physicalboundaries of the school
