The transition period has been classified as a critical period during which the animals suffer a series of metabolic and endocrine changes, showing considerate repercussions about the proper reestablishment and normal operation of different systems among which include the reproductive, immune and digestive, systems. As it was already mentioned disorders during this period are more pronounced due to the increase in genetic improvement of animals that make them more suceptible and with higher nutritional requirements. At the same time nutritional support is not good enough to fullfil those requirements , therefore, the use of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Calcium Salt (PUFACS) has been described as a strategy to be implemented within the nutritional manipulation in ruminants, since it has shown interesting results on follicular development, synthesis and secretion of gonadotropins, oocyte quality, reestablishment of the conditions of the uterine environment and on the embryonic viability, as well as the collateral effects that are exerted on productive profiles and health status of animals.
