dc.description<p>In an effort to adopt modern ways to bring up- todate Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, engaged in rebuilding the ancient library at Alexandria. The modern library was inaugurated in October 2003, near the site of the old one, with the financial support of UNESCO and some other countries and associations. In this sense, the article describes the beginnings of the Museum at Alexandria which included the library. It also mentions some of the reasons for which Alexander the Great founded the library in the fourth century BC., along with the scholars and Directors the library had in its days of splendor. Some of the successive destructions are also noted</p>en
dc.description<p>En su afán por modernizar y actualizar Egipto, Hosni Mubárak, tuvo la idea de hacer resurgir la antigua Bibliotheca Alexandrina y, pidiendo ayuda a la Unesco y a varios países y Asociaciones, llegó a su inauguración en octubre de 2002. Se estudia lo que fue esta Biblioteca en la antiguedad y su creación, en un principio como apoyo al Museo. Haciendo un poco de historia, se analizan los motivos por los que Alejandro Magno llegó a Egipto y deseó fundar una ciudad en la zona del delta del Nilo. Se analizan así mismo las inclinaciones, desde siempre, del pueblo egipcio por el arte y la ciencia y, como consecuencia, por los libros. Se citan los sabios que pasaron por ella y se nombran los directores que tuvo. Se hace una relación de sus distintas destrucciones y se hace un repaso de su historia hasta nuestros días</p>es
