Given the importance that in recent years has been given to animal welfare on the part of veterinarians, producers and consumers, for the possible suffering to which they are exposed animals during the production stage, it is making use of ethology as a mechanism for help to determine the levels of animal welfare, and to provide a better quality of life. Based on the results obtained by this mechanism was developed in the European Union, an operating system called "Deep Bed", which favor environmental conditions of pigs, preserving their natural behaviour and the ability to select and modify their own microenvironment through the material of the bed. This system reduces anxiety and stress situations, which are reflected in the reduction of physical injuries and illnesses, which in turn generates increased quality in the final product. This research aims to assess animal welfare in fattening pigs and fattening both in bed depth as conventional pen through behavioral indicators and parameters, the results will be determined by records observational frequency, duration and weighing all the pigs involved in the investigation. It is hoped that analysis results that enable identification between Deep Bed and Corral Conventional which provides better quality of life for pigs, while still being able to generate better production levels. Providing documentation for veterinarians and producers may have a stronger knowledge in the selection of the production system and to encourage the use of practices that favor both biological and psychological needs of the animals, thereby improving the quality of life of these.
