The finding of liver fluke eggs in feces, can provide a definitive diagnosis of fasciolosis, when it comes to coprological tests the zinc sulfate flotation, sedimentation and sieving technique are commonly used, these have strengths and weaknesses. In this study was validated and their diagnostic ability was determined. Comparing the three tests, sieving technique was taken as gold standard, 280 fecal samples from grazing cattle, located in the highlands of Cundinamarca and Boyacá were collected. The percentages of sensitivity and specificity were 27% and 97% respectively for the flotation test and 29.7% and 95% for the sedimentation test. Also the diagnostic ability of the three tests were evaluated, using dilutions of eggs of F. hepatica recovered from slaughterhouse, the concordance between tests were studied and results that no correlation exists is suggested that protocols should be standardized to improve sensitivity and specificity rates. In this study snails were sought, collected and classified taxonomically from the characteristics of shell, which belonged to the genus Physa spp and species Lymnaea cousini. A description of the habitat was also performed and main vegetation found around the aquatic habitats corresponds to species: Medicago hispida Gaertn, Pennisetum clandestinum, Cyperus rotundus, Poa annua, Rumex crispus.
