It has been reported in different countries, intramammary infection (IIMM) peripartum, responsible for the presence of mastitis in heifers, there are many risk factors, such as the environment, physiological factors, the management of replacement heifers from birth until calving, nutrition etc,. The somatic cell count was significant (P <0.037) for the treated group (GT), with an average of 359,742 cells / ml (16%), whereas for the control group (gC) was 1,896,000 cells / ml (84%). milk production during the first month of first calf heifers, was higher in the group treated with Cefalonium than in the control group, the difference was 176.7 liters of milk.
