At the present time, different biotechnologies in equine practice are recognized to improve the reproductive conditions, and to make this aspect, more efficient. In that order of ideas, it can appreciate that in this moment, are in development technicians that allow among other things, develop Artificial Inseminations, diagnose gestations in early form, sexing sperms to obtain specific sexes, sexing embryos to have markets in which breeding can be chosen with particular genothipic characteristic. In the case of the Thoroughbred, it can be said that the techniques focused in the production of specific sexes don't exist; this because for regulation "this whole type of biotechnologies, they are limited. This because, the associations of the Thoroughbred demand that all the breeding should be obtained by natural procedures, like direct mounts ". Keeping in mind the mentioned forbidding, this work outlined the possibility to revise the physiologic events for the gestation, looking for to analyze if these they can end up replacing the limitation of reproductive biotechnologies. This retrospective study, analyzed if the interval of existent time among it mounts and the ovulation, it can end up taking as prearrange factor in the sex of the breeding. Recent studies demonstrate that the speed of the sperms X and Y it is different. This owes to the difference of weight that they present, 3.7% bigger content of DNA for the X. This factor makes the sperm X more slow than the sperm Y, this cause that the sperm Y arrive first to the oviduct, with possibility of fecundating the recently ovulated ovule. Of another part it is assumed that late ovulations are more susceptible of being fecundated by sperms X that would already have arrived to the oviduct in this case. Having like base this fact, it thought about two intervals of time between the service and the ovulation in the following way: Of up to 24 hours to generate gestations of male sex; and enter 24 and 48 hours to generate female gestations. This work was developed in the hatchery HARAS CORCEGA, of where the 319 data were extracted, which were subjected to the statistical test X2 (Squared Chi) with a significance level of 5% (α=0.05). By means of this procedure it could settle down that indeed the interval of existent time between the service and the ovulation, is a factor that can determine the sex of the breeding to be born. This way one has that the gestations settled down in the interval of time of up to 24 hours, those which according to the theory here outlined, they should be male, they were really in 79.1% gestations of males; and equally, one has that the gestations settled down in the interval of time between 24 and 48 hours, those which, according to what you outlines in this work they should be female, they were in 75.6% gestations for females. The percentages can be bigger, if it was not because during the pursuit, it was not possible to obtain the final results of 72 of the worked animals, this due to abortions, sales or deaths of the mare. According to the above-mentioned, and thanks to the carried out statistical study, it can conclude, that the interval of existent time between the service and the ovulation, is a prearrange factor to determine the sex of the equine ones. This shows that making an appropriate pursuit, this theory can still be taken to the practice in any equine and more important, it can be worked in field, this shows the grade of versatility of the study here carried out.
