Resumen

El propósito del presente trabajo fue evaluar comparativamente las características sexuales secundarias y la eficiencia reproductiva del toro Sanmartinero en el trópico bajo colombiano. El estudio se llevo a cabo en el centro de investigaciones “La Libertad” de CORPOICA, ubicada en el Departamento del Meta, con temperatura promedio 27 grados centígrados, humedad relativa 78% y una altitud de 336msnm. Se trabajó con 30 toros de la raza Sanmartinero, a los cuales se les determinó el momento óptimo de calidad espermática, el efecto de la edad y el grado de asociación de las características sexuales secundarias con la calidad espermática, medidas testiculares y corporales. Las evaluaciones se realizaron por microscopía, espectrofotometría, bovinometría y observación directa y se apoyaron en un modelo completamente al azar, análisis matemáticos, covarianza, regresión y en estadística descriptiva. Los resultados muestran mejor expresión de calidad del eyaculado a los ocho días post-descanso (p<0.05), no existe efecto de la edad en la calidad espermática (p>0.05), pero si en las medidas testiculares (p<0.05). Se observa correlación mayores a r=0.70 con (p<0.001), entre peso corporal vs edad y diámetro, peso, volumen testicular, por encima de r=0.80 con (p<0.001), entre volumen testicular y medidas testiculares. Las mejores correlaciones (r=0.78, p<0.05), entre características sexuales y medidas corporales se visualizaron en cabeza, cuello, lomo y piernas, y las que mostraron menos asociación fueron omoplatos, cuartillas y prepucio. Con calidad espermática las asociaciones mostraron un r menor de 0.50. Las regresiones señalan dependencias del peso corporal por el peso testicular con R 2 = 0.9, en forma de (p<0.001) y con volumen testicular R2 = 0.50 y (p<0.001). En términos generales, se puede concluir que el mejor eyaculado determinado por calidad, se puede obtener a los ocho días post-descanso y que las características sexuales secundarias guardan relación con la eficiencia reproductiva del toro, si evaluamos el animal en conjunto y que este tipo de evaluación no es muy diciente para el bovino criollo Sanmartinero por su excelente fertilidad.

The purpose of the present work was to evaluate the secondary sexual characteristics and the reproductive efficiency of the bull comparatively Sanmartinero in the Colombian low tropic. The study you carries out in the center of investigations The Freedom of CORPOICA, located in the Department of the Meta, with temperature average 27 centigrade degrees, humidity relative 78% and an altitude of 336msnm. The best correlations (r=0.78, p <0.05), among characteristic sexual and corporal measures were visualized in head, neck, loin and legs, and those that showed less association were scapulas, sheets and foreskin. With spermatic quality the associations a showed smaller than 0.50. The regressions point out dependences of the corporal weight for the weight testicular with R 2 = 0.9, in form of (p <0.001) and with volume testicular R2 = 0.50 and (p <0.001). In general terms, you can conclude that the best ejaculated determined by quality, one can obtain to the eight days post-rest and that the characteristics sexual secondary keep relationship with the reproductive efficiency of the bull, if we evaluate the animal on the whole and that this evaluation type is not very diciente for the bovine Creole Sanmartinero for its excellent fertility.
