Resumen

Describe el estado refractivo en niños menores de un año de edad. Los niños examinados proceden de la población pediátrica del hospital de Tunjuelito‐ Clínica El Carmen, que asisten al “Programa de Crecimiento y Desarrollo”. La refracción fue determinada mediante la técnica de retinoscopia dinámica. Los estados refractivos encontrados más comúnmente fueron: Astigmatismo (77.5% OD, 73.5 OI: con la regla 100% OD 97.4% OI) del tipo hipermétrope compuesto y mixto. El componente esférico positivo y negativo encontrado en el ojo derecho oscilo entre 0.25 y 1.50 dioptrías, en el ojo izquierdo y el componente esférico positivo fluctuó entre 0.25 y 0.75 dioptrías (70%) el negativo entre 1 y 1.50 dioptrías (52%). La magnitud del valor cilíndrico fue menor a 2.50 dioptrías (%) y en OI a 3.00 dioptrías (73.8% OD, 66.6% OI). El valor de anisometropia fue bajo, solo un niño presento 2.50 de anisometropia.

Abstract

The refractive estate is described in pediatrically normal infants under 12 months of age. The infants that were examined came from the Hospital Tunjuelito‐ Clinical El Carmen population, who participated in the “Growth and development program” Refraction was measured by dynamic retinoscopy. The most common refractive states found were: Astigmatism (77% RE, 73.5% LE)with the rule (100% RE, 97.4% LE) hipermetropic in both meridians or hipermetropic and myopic. The positive and negative spherical component in the right eye fluctuated between 0.25 – 1.50 diopters; in the left eye the positive was 0.25 – 0.75 and the negative 1.00 – 1.50 diopters. The cylindrical magnitudes were below 2.50 diopters RE, 3.00 diopters LE (73.8% RE, 66.6% LE). The anisometropic values were low; only 1 infant was 2.50 diopters anisometropic.
