Astigmatismo factor de riesgo para la ambliopía
Resumen
Se realizó estudio descriptivo de corte transversal para determinar la prevalencia de ambliopía refractiva en una población de niños entre 3 y 8 años atendidos en la Unidad de Pediatría del I.I.O. de la Universidad de la Salle, Bogotá. Fueron revisadas 5.077 historias clínicas de pacientes atendidos entre enero de 1.999 y diciembre de 2.001. Se seleccionaron 136 con diagnóstico de ambliopía refractiva lo que resulto en prevalencia del 2.68%. Al realizar el cruce de datos se encontró que cerca del 80% de los pacientes presentaba ambliopía leve (agudeza 0.5 o mayor) luego de haber usado su corrección mínimo durante un mes. Casi la totalidad (93% en promedio) presentó astigmatismo, más específicamente, hipermetrópico compuesto con la regla y mixto con la regla.

Abstract
A descriptive study of the transversal cut was conducted for determinate the refractive ambliyopia prevalence into a child population between 3 and 8 years old at the Pediatryc Unit of the I. I. O. at the Salle University in Bogotá. 5.077 histories were reviewed of patients between January 1.999 and December 2.001. 136 cases were selected with diagnostic of refractive amblyopia for a prevalence of 2.68%. To realize the datacross it was found that near of the 80% patients presented lower amblyopia (Visual acuyte 0.5 or major) after they have used their correction minimum during a month. Almost the totality (93% in average) presented astigmatism, more specifically compound hipermetropic with the ruler (WTR) and mixed with the ruler (WTR).
