Resumen

Entrepreneurship has been considered a tool for conducting business ideas, identifying opportunities, improving the quality of life and personal growth. That is why this project seeks to understand the characteristics of the profile of rural women from Tenjo - Cundinamarca, which affect their entrepreneurial attitude, for which a survey model was applied to members of two associations (Cimco and Asoartesarias) allowing to know the characteristics and compare them with a theoretical frameworks in order to establish the characteristics of women in this municipality.It was checked that age, educational level, income, family history, among others, are determinants when creating the profile, which affects the execution of the business idea. For the study case it was identified that entrepreneurial activities are caused by the need for increased revenue and not by identification of opportunities.Environment favors entrepreneurial activity as it streamlines development options supporting training, development and performance in the process of formalizing business such as: public policies, partnerships and financing facilitation.Knowing the factors described above allows guiding actions which will facilitate and create propitious environments where women will exploit their entrepreneurial potential.Key words: Entrepreneurship, gender approach, rural women
