Construction Techniques with Compacted Soil, Unexplored Sustainable Technology
Resumen
El uso de la tierra como material de construcción tiene su origen en el inicio mismo de la humanidad y ha demostrado a través de la historia ser uno de los pocos materiales que combinan de forma exclusiva la capacidad térmica y acústica. La mayoría de los tipos de tierra es apropiada para trabajar como material de construcción, razón por la cual en el mundo se han desarrollado una gran variedad de técnicas constructivas. Una de ellas consiste en combinar una fuerza de compactación sobre la tierra debidamente humedecida y mezclada con un agente estabilizante, denominada técnica constructiva con tierra compactada. Esta compactación permite controlar las deficiencias del material y a la vez mejorar sus propiedades mecánicas. A pesar de las ventajas demostradas de este material y de esta técnica para la construcción de viviendas, en Colombia la evolución y su perfeccionamiento han sufrido un estancamiento. Esto se ha aunado al olvido de las instituciones universitarias que son las encargadas de investigar y profundizar en este tipo de técnicas que, por su sencillez y bajo costo del material, entre otras ventajas, se convierte en una buena alternativa para hacer frente al déficit de vivienda para personas de bajos recursos en el mundo.

Abstract
The use of land as building material has its origins in the beginning of humanity and has proven to be one of the few materials that exclusively combines the thermal and the acoustic capacity. Most types of soil are suitable as construction material, which is why the world has developed a variety of construction techniques. One of them consists of combining a compacting force over the earth which must be appropriately moistened and mixed with a stabilizing agent called the constructive technique with compacted land. This compaction allows to control of deficiencies in the material and at the same time it improves the mechanical properties. Despite the advantages of this material and this technique in constructing homes and buildings, in Colombia further developments have stagnated. This has coupled with neglect from university institutions, which are responsible for researching and deepening these techniques, which, due to the simplicity and low cost of the material become a good alternative given the lack of housing for poor people in the world.
