Traditional Cafes from the Capital: A Look at the Coffee Culture
Resumen
Este artículo se desarrolló como resultado del estudio adelantado en la materia Cultura y Patrimonio, de la Facultad de Ciencias del Hábitat. Pretende reconstruir la historia y la cultura que se desarrollaron alrededor de los cafés tradicionales de Bogotá a lo largo del siglo xx teniendo en cuenta los valores patrimoniales que se han pasado por alto hasta ahora. Identifica los valores culturales, espaciales, intelectuales, artísticos y literarios que se desarrollaron alrededor de dichos cafés para sentar un precedente para futuros estudios que permitan incluir los cafés que hoy agonizan en el centro de Bogotá en el inventario de bienes culturales inmuebles del Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio Cultural.

Abstract
This article was developed as a result of the study conducted in the course Culture and Heritage, from the Faculty of Habitat Sciences. It intends to rebuild the history and culture developed around Bogotá’s traditional cafes throughout the 20th Century considering the patrimonial values that have been ignored so far. It identifies the cultural, spatial, intellectual, artistic and literary values that were developed around such cafes to set a precedent for future studies that will allow the inclusion of today’s agonizing cafes, located in downtown Bogota, in the inventory of immovable cultural property of the Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio Cultural.
