Resumen
This article addresses the problem of student desertion in the university environment by identifying the factors that cause it and proposes student retention and permanence strategies. The text, in addition to a theoretical review of the topic, presents the results of the interviews conducted in fourteen public and private universities in Bogotá, highlighting the cases of students in academic tests, who are at greater risk of dropping out. As a solution, it is proposed the creation of a unit of integral accompaniment and academic success for the University of La Salle that allows, to follow a more rigorous monitoring of the causes that are taking the students to the academic test. Finally, for the Faculty of Administrative and Accounting Sciences of the University of La Salle, strategies are formulated from the human management to retain students and thus impact or reduce desertion for the sole purpose of preventing students from reaching the suspension and finally the desertion, because this would become a loss for the Faculty and an economic and social difficulty for their family and the environment in which they are
