The agricultural activity with its constant use of chemical fertilizers has brought contamination problems, effects on human health, soil deterioration and loss of the microbial biota found there; the use of bacteria with plant growth potential represents an alternative to replace these chemical fertilizers and help both plant growth and the environment. The objective of this work was to characterize isolated bacteria in La Loma farm, Vereda Santa Lucia, in Guasca municipality of Cundinamarca, regarding its potential as growth promoters for the vegetables Lactuca sativa and Beta vulgaris, 38 colonies of bacteria strains were obtained of which 4 were selected for their ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen and solubilize phosphates; later these 4 strains were inoculated in the seeds of Lactuca sativa (lettuce) and Beta vulgaris (Swiss chard) their development was evaluated in greenhouse conditions, obtaining as a result that the isolated and characterized bacteria promoted the vegetable growth of these two vegetables in terms of the proposed measurement patterns: root length, number of leaves, leaf length, dry weight and fresh weight compared to the treatment used with the chemical fertilizer 10-30 and negative control, concluding that the selected strains (A1, A3, A5 and A6) had during the process of inoculation of the seeds of chard and lettuce a positive contribution in their growth up to the state of seedling and that these strains are candidates for future studies that are evaluated in the field to determine their potential as biofertilizers, thus helping to leave behind the use of chemical fertilizers.
