Resumen

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo determinarlos principales factores macroeconómicos que influyen en los salarios y por tanto en el poder adquisitivo de los trabajadores de las distintas actividades económicas urbanas de Colombia, para el periodo 1990-2019. El poder adquisitivo, representado en el salario real como forma de retribución de la mano de obra, permite entender la magnitud de la apreciación del trabajo a través del tiempo, por lo que es posible diferenciar el poder de compra de los ingresos de los trabajadores comprendiendo la no homogeneidad de los salarios, tanto en su comportamiento histórico, como en la actividad económica de origen, lo que plantea variables determinantes distintas del salario real en cada actividad. Por medio de la revisión de antecedentes de investigación y de literatura teórica realizada, se amplía la definición y características de los salarios en la economía, además de identificar las variables macroeconómicas que influyen significativamente en los salarios reales.

Como determinantes, se caracterizó el comportamiento histórico y coyuntural de las series de tiempo de las variables del salario real, Producto Interno Bruto, nivel de ocupación laboral, productividad laboral, Inversión Extranjera Directa e inflación. Se estimaron modelos econométricos multivariados para cada actividad económica, empleando datos trimestrales de los periodos 1996-2006 y 2007-2019.Los resultados permiten afirmar la influencia particular de los factores macroeconómicos sobre el salario real de cada una de las actividades económicas, donde el PIB, el nivel de ocupación y la productividad laboral son determinantes parciales a largo plazo en el transporte y servicios financieros. Por su parte, el PIB es un determinante en la industria, construcción y servicios sociales, al igual que el nivel de ocupación, aunque solo en estas dos primeras actividades. Como importante hallazgo, resalta la inversión foránea y la inflación como los mayores determinantes del salario real de todas las actividades.

The objective of this research is to identify the main macroeconomic determinants that influence wages and therefore the purchasing power of workers in different urban economic activities of Colombia, from 1996 to 2019. Purchasing power is represented in real wages andis the form of remuneration for labor. Through this, it is possible to understand the magnitude of the appreciation of work overtime, due to this, it is possible to differentiate the purchasing power of the workers' income, taking into account that wages are not homogeneous, both in its historical behavior as in the economic activity of origin, which meansthat the real wage is determined by different variables according to the economic activity.The concept and characteristics of wages in the economy have been expanded through a review of the theoretical literature and research background, which allows identifying the economic variables that have a significant influence on real wages. The historical and conjunctural behavior of the time series of the variables of real salary, Gross Domestic Product, level of employment, labor productivity, Foreign Direct Investment and inflation is described and analyzed. Multivariate econometric models were estimated for each economic activity, using quarterly data for the periods 1996-2006 and 2007-2019. The results show that the wages of economic activities are determinedby different variables in a particular way throughout the period of analysis, where GDP, employment level and labor productivity are partial long-term determinants in transportation and financial services. For its part, GDP is a determining factor in industry, construction and social services, as is the level of employment, although only in these first two activities. As an important finding, foreign investment and inflation stand out as the major determinants of real wages in all activities.
