Resumen
Este trabajo de investigación indagó sobre las implicaciones de la producción y adopción de Organismos Genéticamente Modificados en la agricultura, atendiendo al caso puntual del maíz en Colombia. Para ello se realizó, por una parte, una descripción cuantitativa de las dinámicas comerciales del cereal, así como de sus generalidades y, por otra parte, se mencionaron algunos de los riesgos y potencialidades que emergen del empleo de transgénicos. El análisis realizado parte de fundamentos como lo son la seguridad y soberanía alimentaria, y el Desarrollo Humano Integral y Sustentable, pues la coyuntura nacional hace evidente la necesidad de poner sobre la mesa mayor argumentación en el ávido debate de estas innovaciones agrarias en el país, teniendo en cuenta no solo la productividad de los mismos, sino también los pasos a seguir en materia jurídica y científica para garantizar que la adopción de estos sea viable

This research work has investigated the implications of the production and adoption of Genetically Modified Organisms in agriculture, concretely in the case of maize in Colombia. For this purpose, it was made a quantitative description of the commercial dynamics of the cereal as well as its generalities, and on the other hand, some of the risks and potentials that emerge from the use of transgenics already mentioned. The analysis is based on fundamentals such as food security and sovereignty, and the Integral and Sustainable Human Development, because the national situation makes evident the need to put on the table greater argumentation in the avid debate of these agrarian innovations in the country, taking into account not only the viability of them, but also the steps to follow in legal and scientific matters to ensure that the adoption of these can be viable
