Resumen
Education is considered one of the engines of growth and economic development of a country. Economic theories emphasize that the formation of human capital is key to ensuring higher standards of living in societies from a good education.In this paper, we analyze the School Feeding Programme (PAE) of the Ministry of National Education of Colombia (MEN) and its importance for the retention of children in primary basic education. For this research a survey of parents was conducted in two educational institutions in the municipality of Zipaquirá.The results show similarity between the two institutions, but greater relevance in the institution located in the rural area of the municipality, which is why it is advisable to better focus resources and prioritize the educational centers where children only consume what institution gives and not a supplement to food from their homes lead to the institution, as in the institutions located in the urban area of Zipaquirá.Keywords: education, economic development, school feeding programme.
