Resumen
In recent years, food security has became one of the key topics of discussion worldwide. Around food security, a special focus is given to the topic of malnutruition. Therefore this work will study the levels of malnutrition in the Vaupés department, Colombia; wheather related to obesity or undernourishment. Furthemore, because of the special situation of vulnerability, this work will focus on people between the ages of 0 and 4. Relationships are concluded between malnutrition and other variables such as education level of the parents and the number of people per household.This work uses the non-experimental deductive method, reviewing related literature as the basis to identify similar behaviours found in the data from the Instituto Colombiano de Bienerstar Familiar for Vaupés in the year 2010. Among the main findings are high rates of malnutrition during both early and chronic childhood, not only associated with inadequate nutrient intake but also with other factors
