Por esta razón, el objetivo de esta investigación es proponer una estrategia que permita mejorar la competitividad de las empresas del subsector de las curtiembres de Villapinzón . Para ello, se realizó una metodología cualitativa, tomando como método el estudio de caso único, el cual se desarrolló bajo un enfoque de triangulación a partir de la revisión documental, entrevistas y el grupo focal. La aplicación de la transferencia, determinará tres factores competitivos como: la calidad, la gestión ambiental y la innovación, los cuales han permitido que la empresa Colombo Italiana de Curtidos SAS logre de manera exitosa superar los obstáculos a los que se enfrenta el sector. ,

The growing increase in exports of leather without added value has been a determining factor in the low growth of the national industry, as it has caused a shortage of raw materials, and there is evidence of an increase in imports of footwear and leather goods which, by presenting greater added value and competitive prices, are obtaining a greater share in the national market, causing a reduction in the participation of national tanneries.The tannery industry is born in the municipality of Villapinzón, currently there are about 81 small and medium enterprises that perform a craft trade, these are characterized by being family businesses, mostly informal and with reduced levels of education, in addition to limited access to financial resources that do not allow them to acquire technology to be more efficient in their production processes.For this reason, the objective of this research is to propose a strategy to improve the competitiveness of the companies in the tannery subsector of Villapinzón. To this end, a qualitative methodology was developed, taking as a method the single case study, which was developed under a triangulation approach based on documentary review, interviews and the focus group. The application of the methodology made it possible to identify three competitive factors such as quality, environmental management and innovation, which have enabled the company Colombo Italiana de Curtidos S.A.S. successfully overcome the obstacles facing the sector.Finally, the strategy of the associative model between companies will allow the tanneries of Villapinzón to improve their competitiveness and face the limitations of the subsector related to productivity and environmental management
