Global warming and its consequences on species, ecosystems and public health are the results of strong and historical human impacts. Among the actions to reduce the presence of CO2 and with it one of the causes of global warming, different ecosystems, communities, crops and species that can act as carbon sequestrants have been evaluated and thereby mitigate the serious consequences of said phenomenon. Given the high diversity of ecosystems in Colombia, it is possible to find ideal models that can serve as Co2 reservoirs. One of these ecosystems with high potential is the morichal ecosystems given their ability to convert energy into biomass and with it the need to absorb large amounts of carbon and therefore an important sink, however, so far there are no estimates or calculations of how much it can be the actual capture of said CO2. In order to estimate carbon sequestration from allometric equations, a wild population of Mauritia flexuosa (Arecaceae) located in the Chitamena village, Casanare Orinoquia, Colombia was followed. To do this, an inventory is carried out taking into account the age categories, in order to calculate the population density. Sampling is performed and the morphometric measurements necessary for each of the age categories are recorded. The samples are transferred to the laboratory of the University of La Salle, where they are duly dried and weighed to determine the biomass content. Keywords: ecosystem services, CO2 capture, allometric method, morichal forests. From the biomass values obtained, allometric equations were constructed by analyzing the correlations between morphometric components of the palm and the amount of CO2 biomass stored, creating this model and applying the test equations for the selection of a representative population sample. In a morichal forest by classifying the species by age categories, the potential for CO2 fixation of said species was quantitatively determined. In this way, it was obtained that as the individual grows, the greater its storage capacity and on the other hand, the morphometric component with the greatest adjustment was that of the height of the stipe. With this result given by the obtained equation [BA] = 32.454 * [Est. Height] + 45.116 which was 2543,7 Ton/Ha CO2, which compared to other palm species (Attalea butyracea, and Elaeis guineensis ) shows results similar to those found in palm trees, showing the importance of Mauritia flexuosa in particular and palm populations in general in mitigating climate change. The contributions of this study will have direct application in the conservation of the species as well as contributions to the fulfillment of the commitments that the country has before the world agreements in mitigating the impact generated by global warming
