During the treatment of water in drinking water treatment plants, sludge is generated, which in some cases is inadequately disposed, which has generated negative impacts on the environment such as an increase in the concentration of aluminum due to the aggregation of coagulants and an increase in of solids suspended in the mud. However, the entities responsible for monitoring these processes have been given the task of creating regulations to demand that these sludges from the treatment of drinking water be treated in the right way by characterizing them, for further treatment and final disposal as determined by resolution 0330 of 2017 establishes in article 125 the treatment of sludge generated during the purification of water. "The sludge evacuated from the unit processes should be subjected to homogenization techniques, complemented with thickening and dehydration treatments. Under no circumstances is the discharge or final storage of sludge allowed without prior treatment, "according to the type of sludge, thus achieving no negative impacts on water bodies or terrestrial ecosystems. The main objective of this project was to evaluate a series of alternatives to perform the appropriate final disposal of the sludge generated in the conventional type potabilization plant in the municipality of Melgar - Tolima, located in the village of La Cajita, which was developed in four phases. : (1) The phase of study of the background that included the obtaining of the base information for the development of the project, (2) the calculation of the sludge production was made in a theoretical and experimental way. (3) the experimental phase where a sampling was carried out with its respective physicochemical characterization to identify the composition of the sludge, where the comparison of the data obtained with the corresponding regulations was made. (4) The final phase was the design of alternatives which determined the most convenient option for the management of the sludge generated by the plant. The method of evaluation of alternatives AHP is a tool that allowed to discern the most convenient option for the management of the sludge generated by the plant, the results project as the best option the dehydration of the mud by means of drying beds for the viability of economic factors, topographic, energetic, climatic and operational. For the disposal of sludge, the use of this waste as an aggregate in the manufacture of construction materials due to its chemical nature was considered as an option
