The entisol soils order in Colombia, add up to 24.3% of the national territory, they are immature soils that are not very evolved and are mainly composed of primary minerals, for this reason, among others, they are not very fertile soils, and they have a very low cation exchange capacity. These soils are dedicated to productive activities such as livestock and agriculture. Additionally the low fertility conditions, directly contribute to the rural poverty of the inhabitants and the abandonment of the countryside. The low fertility of these soils, poses a general issue for the State. For that reason the project seeks to contribute to the solution of this issue. The hypothesis raised; "Harvest residues from corn increase the cation exchange capacity of Entisol soils", generated the general objective of the research, which was to evaluate the impact of harvest residues on the cation exchange capacity of entisol soils under conditions from Yopal, Casanare. Then incorporated crop residues can be an economical alternative to improve the fertility of these soils. For this, the research implemented three corn crops (Zea mays) of the ICA v109 variety, widely selected by farmers in the region. In these plantations, the effect of three treatments was determined as follows; Establish a baseline for the cation exchange capacity in entisol soils, at the site where the research will be carried out. ii). Analyze the temporal dynamics of the CIC as a function of the addition of corn crop residues in entisol soils. iii). Evaluate the cumulative effect of crop residues, from three maize growing cycles, during sixteen (16) months. The data indicated that all treatments had a decrease compared to baseline. To highlight, treatment ´´incorporate`` (The crop residues were mixed with the soil in the first 10 cm.), after three corn crops in sixteen (16) months, was the one that decreased the CIC value the least with 36%. Treatment ´´ withdrawal of material`` (residues were removed from the experiment site), reached the second spot with 38%. Finally, the treatment ´´burns`` (the residues were burned at the experiment site), showed a 45%. Finally the data obtained in the baseline were compared with the data of the accumulated of the three crops (taken in February 2020) and the result was: the treatment where the ICC decreased to a lesser degree with respect to the baseline after sixteen months of the establishment of three successive corn crops was ´´incorporate``. The treatment ´´burns`` was in the second spot. Finally, the treatment where the most CIC lost during the process was ´´ withdrawal of material`` treatment. The last treatment, lost over time, a total of 3.1 meq / 100 g of CIC soil and presented the lowest data in CIC at the end of the experiment with 15.9 meq / 100 g of dry soil after corn be grown three times without adding biomass.
