Resumen

El conocer la edad de los bovinos es importante, ya que gracias a este conocimiento se puede llegar a determinar la susceptibilidad frente a algunas enfermedades. También es indispensable para el manejo en bovinos, ya que permite saber cuando un animal debe iniciar procesos de levante, ceba, reproducción, descarte. Este trabajo busco la generación de una tabla con los parámetros cronológicos dentales de bovinos Bos Taurus de raza Holstein. El proyecto se realizó en la vereda de San Fortunato perteneciente al municipio de Sibaté, Cundinamarca, que cuenta con una población total de 945 animales de raza Holstein con registro de edad, de la cual se utilizaron 250 individuos distribuidos de una manera equitativa en 25 grupos de 10 animales cada uno. A cada bovino seleccionado se le examinó la cavidad bucal para realizar una observación directa de las piezas dentales, también se tomó una serie de fotografías, seleccionando las mejores cuatro imágenes que mostraran los planos laterales, lingual y labial. Se realizó estadística observacional descriptiva comparativa, y finalmente se creó una tabla de cronometría dentaria de bovinos Holstein del municipio de Sibaté, Cundinamarca. El estudio también permitió concluir que las tablas internacionales sobre cronometría dental tienen diferencias bastante notorias con las obtenidas en el presente estudio, lo cual las hace poco aplicables a zonas con condiciones similares a las de este trabajo.

The information provide by the age of the cattle is useful because it can be determine the illness susceptibility of the animals and the appropriate treatment. In cattle production knowing the age of the animals is important so it is establish the start of lifting processes, fattening, reproduction or discard. This research aimed at the creation of a table with dental chronological parameters of Bos Taurus Holstein cattle. The project was developed in San Fortunatosidewalk which is part of the Sibaté municipality, located in the department of Cundinamarca. The total bovine population that is the same race (Holstein), and register is 945; there were used 250 individuals, distributed equally in 25 groups containing 10 animals each. The oral cavity of every animal was examined in order to do direct observation of the dental pieces, several photos were taken, the best four were selected showing lateral, lingual and labial planes. The results were analyzed using comparative, observational descriptive statistic. Finally, it was made a table showing dental chronometry of Holstein cattle of the municipality of Sibaté. As a conclusion to this study, the international dental chronometry tables have really big differences with the one made in this research, which means they have not applicability in zones with similar conditions than the one observed in this project.
