Introduction: Agrochemicals are substances used with the purpose of preventing and controlling any type of pest that may affect the agricultural sector. Many of these generate a high degree of toxicity, causing damage to the health of workers exposed to pesticides. However, until recently it was known that at the level of the visual system there can be some activity at the cholinergic level. Therefore, it is questioned how the regulation or change in cholinergic activity could generate changes at the level of the ocular surface. Overall Objective: Determine the role of acetylcholinesterase and cholinergic activity in the visual system in workers exposed to agrochemicals. Materials and methods: A systematic bibliographic review of the information was carried out, divided into three phases. In the first phase, a search will be carried out on the types of agrochemicals and their respective mechanism of action, as well as the cholinergic activity of acetylcholinesterase an methods of obtaining, in the second phase an investigation will be carried out on the alterations that these agrochemicals produce in visual functions and finally, in the third phase the effect of pesticides on the structures of the ocular surface will be investigated. The articles included in this research will be evaluated using the critical reading methodology Critical Appraisal Skills Program in Spanish (CASPe) where the quality of the article was evaluated considering the rigor, credibility and relevance of said studies.
