Abstract

In recent years, international migration has been marked by the high flow of migrant women. The reasons are based mainly on the struggle of women to seek their independence and economic autonomy. In this context, the objective of this paper is to determine implications that the border has had on women migrant workers in Colombia in aspects related to resistance and vulnerability, understood, in the present study, as transgression and mobilization devices in function of his vindication as people. The research was guided by the inductive-deductive methodological process and the qualitative approach. We worked with 20 women international migrant entrepreneurs based in Colombia. To obtain the information, a sociodemographic characterization of the women under study was carried out and an in-depth interview was applied, which was structured based on three axes: motivations for migration; situations of exclusion, fear and risks suffered in the migration process and reasons that motivated them to undertake in Colombia. Among the relevant results were, among others, the social and economic contribution of migrant women to the receiving country; It is concluded that the fundamental motivation of female migration lies in the search for migrant women for a better quality of life for themselves and their families.
