Abstract
Power quality analysis has been an issue that has evolved with power systems. The use of renewable power generation and the presence of new components such as power electronics in large numbers and distributed generation systems have brought new challenges. Different methods of signal analysis have been used to characterize phenomena associated with disturbances and other unwanted behaviors, but the tools used for more than a century to analyze signals in power systems are no longer providing accurate information with a good resolution in the time and frequency domain. This paper presents a novel technique based on the combination of different modifications of the Hilbert Huang Transform for the analysis of oscillations and the detection of instantaneous frequency and harmonics in one typical signal from a PV inverter. The Iterative Hybrid Transform (IHT) proposed in this paper show good performance compared with the classical methods as Fourier and Wavelet Transform.
