Abstract
The present study shows a system of nonconventional treatment, heterogeneous photocatalysis, for the degradation of the obsolete pesticide Attamix SB (Chlorpyrifos A.I.). Final disposition of this compound, no longer used and in temporary storage in public institutions generates imminent risks to the health of the community. Research using oxidizing agent hydrogen peroxide 30% w/w, in concentrations from 1ml/L to 10 ml/L, and titanium dioxide type anatase as catalyst in concentrations of 100, 200, and 250 mg/L. Results show that optimal removal occurred with the following conditions: initial concentration of 4.16 mg/L of active ingredient Clorpirifos; irradiation time of UV (254nm) of 120 minutes, 100 mg/L of TiO and 10 ml/L of H O , liquidliquid extraction with dichloromethane and concentration for reading to gaseous chromatography. The degradation percentage was 89%, demonstrating that Attamix SB can be reduced efficiently by heterogeneous photocatalysis. 2 2 2
