The grass bug Collaria scenica is a very important worldwide plague that affects different grasses, causing high economic losses in specialized dairy cattle farms in tropical countries. The objective of this research was to evaluate the insecticidal effect of plant extracts of Sambucus nigra in the control of the fourth instar of Collaria scenica, under laboratory conditions, control of the fifth instar of scenica collaria, under laboratory conditions. Bioassays were performed in biochemistry laboratories of the La Salle University north campus, aqueous an ethanolic crude extracts in concentrations of 1%, 3% and 5%, were used, chloroformic extracts, in concentrations of 0.5%, 1% were used, and acetonic extract in concentrations of 0.1 %, 0.5% and 3%. Aqueous and ethanolic crude extracts in concentrations of 1%, 3% and 5%, were used, chloroformic extracts in concentrations of 0.5%, 1% were used, and acetonic extract in concentrations of 0.1 %, 0.5% and 3%. Were used, for all bioassays entire plant, leaves, flowers and fruits were used, in each bioassay 20 individuals of Collaria scenica with three replicates per sample and a control group were evaluated . All bioassays were performed in triplicate; the results showed a higher mortality in the 40% of ethanol and entire plant extracts, the aqueous extract of entire plant showed a higher mortality with 61.4%. of the evaluated indivuals. For the remaining extracts mortality was less than 30%, for the remaining extracts mortality was less than 30%. The LC50 (median lethal concentration) Sambucus nigra extract was 4.7 x 103 mg.L-1 and LC95 was 7.5 x 104 mg.L-1 showing statistically significant difference between evaluated extracts.
