Title

Determination of photostress recovery time through the glare test in type II diabetic patients and healthy patients

Abstract

Objective: To determine of the changes in the photoestress recovery time through the test of glare in Type II diabetic patients, with more than five years of diagnosis and healthy patients. Methods: We chose the convenience sample, which evaluated 100 patients divided into two groups each of 50 subjects. The case group or diabetic patients type II and the healthy group. Glucometria test, the visual acuity test , ophthalmoscopy and glare test was making, after standardization of the tests, information was collected optical and health brigades in Bogotá DC. Results: The average recovery time to photostress in diabetic patients was 33,57seconds, and healthy patients were 24,09 seconds. Values photostress were within the range and limit of normal, 15 to 35 seconds. There were significant differences (p = 0,02565) in the average recovery time photostress between to male and female healthy and diabetic population. Diabetic patients showed a greater recovery time, between 8.33 and 11.33 seconds, than healthy subjects. Conclusions: Diabetic patients don’t have alterations in the recovery time to photostress, however, this time was significantly greater than of healthy subjects in this study.
