The present investigation pretends to answer to the research question how the agricultural enterprise promotes the rural development in Colombia? Through the qualitative, exploration the bibliographical revision and collection of documents, in order to show the advances in research on rural development issues and agricultural entrepreneurship. Trying to identify the aspects and activities of the agricultural enterprise that provide benefits to the communities involved and establish how they generate rural development in Colombia. It was found that there was very little research activity for the subject of agricultural entrepreneurship related to rural development, which has caused that there is no standardization of information. The results of the research, show that there is a positive relationship between agricultural entrepreneurship and rural development, where it is identified that jointly it is possible to solve problems. This is why agricultural entrepreneurship initiatives are proposed as a strategy that contributes to rural activities in Colombia
