Resumen

Este artículo de investigación se enfoca en analizar e integrar las teorías de Halliday y Austin para revisar los cambios de registro en conversaciones de WhatsApp con el fin de comprender las variaciones de las complejas dinámicas sociopragmáticas que se desarrollan en dichos chats. Para lograrlo decidimos analizar los chats de las tres investigadoras. Primero definimos los parámetros contextuales según Halliday, con interacciones entre dos o más personas en esta aplicación de mensajería instantánea, luego continuamos con los actos ilocucionarios de Austin, quisimos dar cuenta de las múltiples intenciones que un hablante puede tener, dependiendo de las interacciones del hablante entre otros factores. Con este trabajo queríamos determinar si los cambios de registro se pueden dar en una misma conversación que se está teniendo con una persona y si es así, de qué manera cambiaba según la intención (actos ilocucionarios) y los parámetros contextuales. Como resultado encontramos que las conversaciones cambian de registro, sin importar el acto ilocucionario y a su vez, pueden llegar a cambiar en cualquiera de las tres categorías propuestas por Halliday (Campo, Tenor y Modo). Lo fundamental en dichos cambios es ver cómo los interlocutores emplean diversas estrategias lingüísticas y comunicativas para construir significados, expresar identidades sociales y establecer relaciones eficientes en entornos virtuales en pro de alcanzar su fin comunicativo.

The following research’s article is focusing to analyze and to integrate Halliday’s and Austin’s theories to analyze the changes of register through WhatsApp’s conversation in order to understand the complex variations of socio-pragmatic dynamics that develop in such chats. To achieve this, we decided to analyze the researcher’s conversations. The first step was defining the Halliday’s contextual parameters, with interactions between two or more people in this instant messaging application, then with the Austin’s illocutionary acts, we wanted to show the multiple intentions that a speaker had, depending on the interaction and other factors. With this research’s article we wanted to determine if the register changes, can occur in the same conversation that is being with another person if so, how that changes according to the intention (illocutionary acts) and the contextual parameters. As result, we found those conversations change the register, no matter that illocutionary act, can change in any of the three categories proposed by Halliday (field, tenor or mode). The most important factor in such changes is to see how the speakers use many linguistic and communicative strategies to build meanings, express social identities and establish efficient relations in virtual environments to achieve their communicative end.
