Comparative Anatomical Description of the Bony Segments of the Bovine and Equine Vertebral Spine
Resumen
El presente estudio consiste en una descripción anatómica comparativa de los segmentos vertebrales de la especie equina (Equus caballus) y el bovino (Bos taurus.). La columna vertebral corresponde a uno de los ejes principales de soporte, equilibrio y distribución de fuerza del cuerpo de todo ser vivo. Se caracteriza por estar constituida por una serie de huesos denominados vértebras, los cuales están diferenciados por segmentos: cervical, torácico, lumbar, sacro y coccígeo. A pesar de la literatura existente con respecto al estudio anatómico comparativo, no es fácil disponer de un texto que permita entender de manera paralela las diferenciaciones de las estructuras o sistemas en estudio entre especies. Como resultados del presente estudio, se logró identificar las principales diferencias anatómicas ya presentes en la literatura clásica de anatomía veterinaria. Sin embargo, también observo una serie de estructuras no descritas de manera comparativa en los diversos textos de la especialidad. De esa manera, busco contribuir a la creación de un artículo que potencie la anatomía comparativa y que colabore en la formación de profesionales del área veterinaria o morfológica.

Abstract
The current study consists of a comparative anatomical description of the vertebral segments of the equine species (Equus caballus) and the bovine (Bos taurus). The vertebral column corresponds to one of the main axes of support, balance and distribution of force of the body of all living beings. It is characterized by being made up of a series of bones called vertebrae, which are differentiated by segments: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral and coccygeal. Despite the existence of literature regarding the comparative anatomical study, it is not easy to have a text that allows a parallel understanding of the differentiations of the structures or systems under study between species. As a result of the present study, it was possible to identify the main anatomical differences already present in the classic literature of veterinary anatomy. However, I also observe a series of structures not described in a comparative way in the various texts of the specialty. In this way, I sought to contribute to the creation of an article that enhances comparative anatomy, and collaborates in the training of professionals in the veterinary or morphological area.
